Painting Rocks, Workshop Series #1, In-Person, 11/3

Level: Intermediate - Advanced
What to Expect: In this workshop, learn how to paint the coastal Maine rocks based on an image. This workshop will especially be helpful for those looking to fine-tune their skills in capturing the light, shadowing, texture, and overall detail in rock formation.
The first part of the workshop will entail gesture painting, learning how to be loose and free with your brushwork, establishing a basic composition. The second part will give you the opportunity to break down the compostion in shapes of lights and shadows to develop form and textural elements.
You will have the opportunity to experiment with the following techniques.
Impasto
Scraping
Stippling
Staining
Gestural painting
An oil painting supply list (solvent-free) will be provided after registering. Students are welcome to use acrylic if preferred.
