Painting Maine Trees, Workshop Series #2, In-Person, 1/19
When: Sunday, January 19th, 1-3:30 pm
Location: Portland New Church, 302 Stevens Ave.
Level: Intermediate - Advanced
What to Expect: Each workshop in this series will focus on a different selection of Maine trees. In this workshop, learn how to paint a landscape oil painting of maple trees based on a photo. This workshop will especially be helpful for those looking to fine-tune their skills in capturing the light, shadowing, texture, and overall detail in trees.
The first part of the workshop will entail gesture painting, learning how to be loose and free with your brushwork, establishing a basic composition. The second part will give you the opportunity to break down the compostion in shapes of lights and shadows to develop form and textural elements.
You will have the opportunity to experiment with the following techniques.
Impasto
Scraping
Stippling
Staining
Gestural painting
An oil painting supply list (solvent-free) will be provided after registering. Students are welcome to use acrylic if preferred.
*Class will be held online if weather is not suitable for driving.
